Matthew and his buddy were able to make it on short notice, late in the day on a rainy Friday evening as their last stop. Friendly guys and immediately went right to troubleshooting, then working on the problem with my A/C unit. Had the parts on them in their truck- after a few trips back a forth, it's as good as new. Matthew and his coworker responded to my request for an AC repairman on a sunny summer afternoon on a Sunday. I searched high and low and no one was available, so just the fact that he promptly responded and was willing to drive to us in Greenpoint was a bonus in and of itself! When Matthew arrived he quickly diagnosed the first problem with our central AC and patiently walked through what the issue was, even showing things like the clogged filter and leaky piping we were experiencing.
He then had to cut through the wall to make sure there were no further leaks. He cleaned everything up and after he was done it looked like no one had been over or touched a thing.
Matthew was also very transparent about pricing and ended up charging us the lowest price he had mentioned as a possibility (because he didn't know the full extent of our problems he had originally given us a pretty broad range; luckily things were not as severe as they could have been). He was definitely the guy you want to talk to about air conditioning with and clearly knew his stuff -- was almost academic (not in a condescending way) and seemed like a chill dude in general. We never felt like we were being pressured or taken advantage of in any way.

I got locked out and I had no cellphone, no keys, so I walked across the street to the neighborhood locksmith. The last time I did this to myself was in the 1990s, so I had a bit of rude awakening when I found out that the whole thing would cost me close to $300. I was missing my flight, which meant more money too, I was highly stressed, and broke down. These guys gave me a $30 discount, which made me feel a little better. And today they made me a copy of my keys. They have 24 hour service by phone and very nice people working behind the desk making copies of keys during regular business hours.
